Chennai, Sept 9: Andhra Pradesh’s Sania Mirza ousted top seed C Nandita of Tamil Nadu 6-4 6-3 to earn a place in the last four of the Girl’s U-16 in the Cata-Aita mini/ sub-junior tennis championship today.

Fifth-seeded Mirza also made it to the semi-finals of the U-14 where she is the top seed. Mirza beat Tamil Nadu’s Saranya Pattabhi 6-4 7-5.

Maharashtra’s Isha Lakhani figures in the semi-finals of both U-14 and U-16 sections. In the U-14, Lakhani, who is seeded two, defeated Karnataka’s Iciri Rai 6-3 6-3 while in the U-16, Lakhani beat Delhi’s Ankita Bhambri 5-7 6-1 6-4.

In boys U-14 quarter-finals, fifth seed Karan Rastogi (Mah) quelled Aman Jhawar (TN) 6-4 6-2 while National junior champion R Arun Prakash (TN) demolished state mate VM Ranjeet 6-2 6-2.
