In addition, the Government has also proposed to chalk out a comprehensive insurance scheme for 12 lakh workers attached to cooperative sugar factories whose 22 lakh agricultural pumps have been damaged.

The Jijamata Mahila Aadhar Bima Yojna seeks to provide compensation to the wife/children of holders of saffron and yellow ration cards, who die or become permanently or partially disabled as a result of accidents.

In case of death or disability, the compensation will be Rs 25,000 and in case of partial disability, like loss of an eye or limb, the compensation will be Rs 12,500.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the Government has decided in principle to chalk out an insurance scheme for workers of cooperative and sugar factories and farmers whose agriculture pumps were damaged.

“We are proposing to give a compensation of Rs one lakh to relatives of the deceased. While 50 per cent of the premium amount will be paid by the State Government, the remaining amount will be paid by the factory management,” Mundesaid.

Referring to the increase in the number of cases of massive damage to agriculture pumps, Munde said it has been proposed to provide them insurance cover. “There are more than 22 lakh agricultural pumps in the State and we have proposed that the Maharashtra State Electricity Board pay the premium for the scheme,” Munde said.
