In a shining example of communal harmony, marriage of 12 couples from Hindu and Muslim communities were solemnised together in the temple city.
“It was a unique programme aimed at promoting communal harmony,” Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Minister Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary, who attended the function, said on Sunday.
“It is a rare sight to see marriage and nikah being performed on a common platform,” Commissioner Agra Division Sita Ram Meena said.
Such initiatives pave the way for marriage of girls whose parents are economically backward, DM Mathura, Anita C Meshram said.
The function was organised by a welfare organization ‘Sankalp welfare Society’.
