CHANDIGARH, Feb 19: Swarn Lata, a student of BA part II won high jump gold on the opening day of the Government College for Girls-11, 43rd annual athletic meet held at college premises today. Mamta (BA II) and Sunita (BA I) were second and third respectively.

Tarminder (BSc I) got first position in the long jump. Kamaldeep (BA II) was second while Swarn (BA II) got the third position. Heats were, however, conducted in 400 metres and 200 metres. The finals will be held tomorrow.

Earlier, former Director Sports, UT Sports Department, Nirmal Milkha Singh inaugurated the meet open.

Results
High jump: 1 Swarn (BA II), 2 Mamta (BA II), 3 Sunita (BAI).
Long jump: 1 Tarminder (BSc I), 2 Kamaldeep (BA II), 3 Swarn (BA III).
Cycle race: 1 Mamta Bhatti (BA II), 2 Saroj (BA I), 3 Neelam (BA III).

Madan wins
S K MADAN won the table tennis event in the sports function organised by Bureau of Indian Standards, Northern Regional Office, Chandigarh, to celebrate its founders day here recently.

S Basu got first position in discus throw event while Seema Chawla won the women’s singles carrom title.

Milan Kumar was first in chess, carrom and shot put.
