RANCHI, DECEMBER 30: Air hostess Savita Ekka whose maternal home is at Ranchi is one of the crew members held hostage along with 155 passengers on board the hijacked Indian Airlines plane parked at the Kandahar airport.

Right now, Savita’s parents are camping in New Delhi waiting for the safe return of their daughter. But they are putting up a strong front. The Government should not give in to the hijackers demand, they feel adding, Savita should come back safely but not at the cost of the country.

"It was a blunder to have released militants for getting back Rubiya Sayeed and same mistake should not be repeated," said one of Savita’s kin. At the same time they also held the Central Government guilty of not reacting in time when the hijacked plane stopped for a brief period at the Amritsar airport.

Talking about Savita, her maternal uncle Paul Beck said he got news about Savita being on the hijacked plane only after her parents called him up at his home on Wednesday night.

Though born in Asansol in West Bengal, Savita stayed at her maternal home at Ranchi to finish her graduation from Nirmala College before she became an air hostess with the Indian Airlines.
