NEW DELHI, May 28: Global Nirmithi Net (GNN), a global fraternity of individuals and institutions committed to the realisation of a better world through better habitat, has offered earthquake resistant building technology and design for the rehabilitation of the quake affected people of Jabalpur.
The Kerala State Nirmithi Kendra (Building Centre) which pioneered the concept of cost-effective and environment friendly habitat , emerged as the Global Best Practice in that genre.
It was the suggestion of the Kerala State Nirmithi Kendra to set up a global network for the dissemination of the experiences of the GBP-100 for improving the quality of life of the peoples of the world which crystallised at Istanbul as the Global Nirmithi Net.
Over a hundred representatives from thirty countries formed a global consortium at Istanbul during Habiitat II to promote the concept of GNN. C V Anand Bose, the progenitor of the Nirmithi Kendra movement in India was chosen the Secretary general of the GNN.
Speaking to the press, Bose said that GNN has already established chapters in Turkey, India, Kuwait and organising committees have been formed in Switzerland; Belgium; Finland; USA; Japan; Ukraine; Mauritius; Germany; Singapore; Russia; UK, to set up country chapters.
GNN will take up global projects on human wealth, designed to bring out the best in every man two of which are Project Comit and Project Globe Tot.
