VADODARA, May 21: An Eye Hospital and Phaco Institute for the poor and middle-classes will be inaugurated at the Arogya Mandir in Ellora Park run by the Haribhakti Raneswar Mahadev Sansthan Charitable Trust on May 24.

Announcing this at a press conference on Thursday, Managing Trustee Ishwarlal Haribhakti said, “With the Haribhakti Eye Hospital, we aim to provide the community with the latest and the best that is available in eye care today”. He added that the institute was equipped with the latest technological instruments.

The institute will comprise a state-of-the-art operation theatre having a German Zeiss operating microscope with video camera and CC television attachment, the latest Allergan OPSYS-MMP Phacoemulsification Machine, Humphrey A-Scan Biometer for Intra-Ocular lens power measurements, Slit lamp, Keratometer, Lensometer and a motorized eye examination unit.

Eminent Mumbai-based eye surgeon Dr Shashi Kapoor, who is one of the pioneers in phacoemulsification surgery and foldable lenses in the country, will visit the hospital regularly and extend his skills to the patients with the assistance of honorary Phaco surgeon Dr Mahesh Pandya and others.

Haribhakti added that the Trust also aimed to make the institute an academic platform in the future by conducting regular workshops and refreshing courses for budding ophthalmic surgeons.
