Police arrest `dreaded’ criminal
Central district police claim to have apprehended a `dreaded criminal’, Amjad Ali, a resident of Jafrabad in Seelampur. Following a tip-off that he would visit Chitla gate in Churiwalan, a trap was laid for him by the Jama Masjid police where they managed to arrest him. A .32 bore country made revolver was recovered from him. Under interrogation, he told the police that he was involved in 6 cases of crime including a case of attempt to murder in which he alongwith one Mohammad Zafar shot a person called Saleem Pattewala in December 1995 in Seelampur. Since then he has been on the run and had been living in Hyderabad. He had been declared a proclaimed offender in 6 cases.

Body with stab wounds found
An unidentified body of a man, 23, 5′ 7", sallow-complexioned, of thin built, clad in blue trousers and a white shirt, tattooed Nadan Singh on the right hand, with two stab injuries in the neck was reportedly found on the side of the railway track near Saboli village in Nand Nagri on Wednesday morning. The police have registered a case of murder and have sought public help in identifying the body.

TSR recovered within minutes
The PCR van staff claim to have recovered a stolen TSR (DL1R 7705) within minutes of it being stolen on Wednesday night. The driver, Karamvir, reported to the PCR staff at around 1.25 a.m. that his TSR had been stolen from the Sabzi Mandi Railway Station. The PCR staff swung into action and spotted the TSR within minutes near the Mehta building in Kishan Ganj. Two persons named Rajender Singh and Vijender Singh were also arrested. The accused were handed over to Pratap Nagar Police Station.

Mechanic stabbed by 16-yr-old
A mechanic was stabbed by a 16-year-old boy in Gokulpuri on Wednesday. The incident occurred at around 2.30 p.m. when the accused, Davender, went to an electronics shop in Karawal Nagar. Deen Mohammad, a mechanic in the shop rebuked Davender for entering through the back door instead of the front. An argument ensued between the two and it was during the course of the argument that Davender stabbed Deen Mohammad. He was rushed to hospital where he is declared to be out of danger.

Video cassette shops raided
Melody Video shop in Palika Bazar was raided on Thursday 27-year-old Jaswinder Singh has been arrested for video piracy. Twenty cassettes (15 of Keemat and 5 of Dandnayak) were recovered.

A raid was also conducted at Mukerji Park Extension where a video recording unit equipped with 18 VCRs was recovered. Police say copies of the film Kabhi na Kabhi were recovered. Seventeen pirated cassettes along with a master cassette were seized.
