Suicides
Two youths committed suicide in separate cases registered at the Udhna and Pandesara police stations on Sunday, the police said. Maheshwari Bhimraj Shahu, a 25-year-old resident of Sonal Society at Udhna, committed suicide by hanging himself, the Udhna police stated. In another case registered at the Pandesara police station, Sudarshan Pahadi (20) committed suicide on Saturday night after he was chided by his elder brother Purnachandra for misusing the motorcycle. The Udhna and Pandesara police have registered cases under section 174 of the CrPC and are investigating.

Dowry case
A resident of Tadwadi area of Salabatpura complained to the police that her husband and mother-in-law subjected her to physical and mental torture and were demanding dowry. The complainant added that her husband and mother-in-law beat her up since November 16, 1997, and were demanding Rs 10,000 as dowry. Although no arrests have been made, the police have registered a case under sections 498 (a) of the IPC as well as section 5 of the Dowry Act and are investigating.

Vehicle thefts
Two vehicles, both motorcycles, were reported stolen in separate cases registered at the Udhna and Salabatpura police stations on Sunday. Anoop Maheshwari, a resident of Shastrinagar in Khatodara complained to the Salabatpura police that he had parked his Yamaha motorcycle (GJ 5 H 8151) opposite Navapura Bus Stand at Golwad at around 10 pm on Saturday and returned half an hour later to find it stolen. In another case registered at the Udhna police station, one Arvindbhai Marathe, a resident of Shriram Kutir Apartments at Udhna lodged a police complaint stating that his a Hero Honda motorcycle (GCE 2546) was stolen from the apartment’s parking space The police have registered cases under section 379 of the IPC.
