
Torture case lodged
A 20-year-old woman lodged a complaint in the Olpad police station on Saturday night, stating that she was being physically and mentally harassed by her husband and relatives for dowry. The complainant named her husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law, two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law — all residents of Pinjrat village — as the accused. The complainant also told the police that the accused threatened to kill her and drove her out of the house a couple of days ago. A case under sections of the IPC and Dowry Act has been registered in the Olpad police station.
Suicide
One Ravi Deepak Vyas, a 20-year-old resident of Deepa Complex opposite River Drive Society in the Rander area of the city, committed suicide by hanging himself to a ceiling fan in his house, on Saturday night, the Rander police said. A case has been registered under section 174 of the CrPC and is being investigated.
Body recovered
The Olpad police of the district recovered the dead body of an unidentified 30-year-old man from a pit near Gothan village, some 25 kms from the city. The case registered under CrPC 174 stated that the man fell into the pit filled with rain water and drowned, presumably a couple of days ago. The semi-decomposed body has been brought to the New Civil Hospital for a post-mortem.
Man missing
One Champak Chhagan Naghse, a 40-year-old resident of plot no 5 near BRC Colony is missing since November 3 last year, the police were informed on Sunday. One Dharmesh Champak Naghse told the Sachin police that his father left Nagina Mills for home on the evening of November 3, 1998 but did not reach home. All efforts to trace the person had proven futile. A non-cognisable case has been registered at the police station.
