In a rare gesture, a school-going girl in the city has decided to celebrate her birthday with a difference in the wake of Mumbai attack.
Jalnidh Kaur, who is a class XI student in Humanities, has invited her friends to what she calls a ‘Pledge Day’. She said she would spread the message of a united youth so that they are part of the process to bring about a change in the country by organising pressure groups to condemn the politicians in slumber and vow to take over the command of country in ‘our’ hands.
“I first thought of dropping the idea of celebrating the birthday as has been done by Sonia Gandhi in the wake of Mumbai attack. But then I decided to celebrate it but not as other teenagers would prefer to do. It is going to be a Pledge Day for me and my friends,” she said.
In order to spread the message among the youth and ask them to come forward to help the nation, Jalnidh said, “I want to spearhead an anti-terrorism movement along with my friends and will vow to be vigilant and proactive citizens. The youth in India should understand the country needs them to initiate a change in the country. They should now decide to rise to political positions too.”
