CISF felicitates sports persons

NEW DELHI, December 2: Arjuna Awardee shooter Shilpi Singh, wrestler Ramesh, weightlifter Bharti Singh, boxer Dalbir Singh and judoka Akeel Ahmed were among the sports persons felicitated by the Central Industrial Security Force at a function here today.

Shilpi Singh was presented with a cheque of Rs 10,000 by the Director General of CISF Ravi Kant Sharma while three other international judo medal winners sub-inspector Jagjeet Kaur, sub-inspector Jyotinder Kaur and Commonwealth gold medallist sub-inspector Rashmi Rani were given out of turn promotion for their achievements alongwith cash awards. SAI weightlifting coach S.C. Goel was also honoured at the function.

CISF players bagged 165 medals this year in various sports events which is close to their medal records in last six years. CISF won the National Taekwondo Championship winning five gold medals out of eight, last month. Its weightlifting, boxing, judo, gymnastics and wrestling teams secured second position in team championships while shooting team lifted the Northern India Shooting Championship at Chandigarh.
