
NAGPUR, Sept 23: Dr Pankaj Chande, a reader in the Nagpur University Post Graduate Department of Sanskrit, member of the Management Council and former dean, Faculty of Arts, has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of the Kavi Kulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University which is to come up near Ramtek.
The gazette notification to this effect was issued by the Principal Secretary to the Maharashtra Governor on September 18. It was communicated to Dr Chande through fax today.
It is the first Sanskrit University in Maharashtra and in central India and the tenth in the country. At 46, Dr Chande is perhaps the youngest Vice Chancellor of a university in the country. He has been appointed for a five-year term, and will go on lien from Nagpur University.
