BULAWAYO, OCTOBER 1: Zimbabwe opening batsman Alistair Campbell steered his side to winning total of 273 runs against New Zealand in the second of three One-day Internationals.
The home spinners restricted the Kiwis and in chasing hard for runs they were all out 252, giving Zimbabwe victory by 21 runs.
It was only the fourth time Zimbabwe have beaten New Zealand in 20 One-day Internationals and it sets up an exciting finish to the series on Sunday as the teams are now 1-1.
Campbell fell short of his fourth One-day century by only four runs. His 96 required only 108 balls and with every other batsman making a contribution, the home side were able to take full advantage of a first rate batting wicket, scoring at 5.5 runs an over.
Grant Flower bustled to 45 at a run a ball and at the end of the innings Heath Streak slammed 21 not out from 11 deliveries.
It was these late innings that swung the match because New Zealand steadily fell behind the required run rate and they needed to score two a ball in the last four overs, which was too much especially when wickets were falling.
Dirk Viljoen captured three New Zealand wickets and Paul Strang captured that of Roger Twose for 64.
