NAGPUR, MAR 29: The representatives of the striking post-graduate students of Government Dental Colleges in the State will meet Jayant Patil, Finance Minister on Wednesday at 11 am at Mantralaya.
The meeting has been arranged by Gangadhar Gade, Minister of State for Transport. Digvijay Khanvilkar, Health Minister and Thomas Benjamin, Secretary (Medical Education and Drugs) are also slated to attend the meeting.
The students will put forward their demand of hike in stipend to the Finance Minister. They are on strike from March 9 last to demand parity in stipend with medical postgraduates and interns. They intensified the strike on March 23, when five of their representatives proceeded on an indefinite hunger strike at Aurangabad.
The hunger strike was deferred for two days on Monday following assurance by Gade, a resident of Aurangabad, that he would get a meeting arranged with the Finance Minister. The students have warned that they would resume the hunger strike if this meeting fails.
