NEW DELHI, February 12: A survey has identified 72 Lok Sabha candidates including former chief ministers and Union ministers belonging to different parties who have criminal proceedings pending against them.

The survey carried out by Outlook magazine on 500 of the 4,693 candidates in fray says that 30 of them belong to Uttar Pradesh and 22 to Bihar. Giving out the list, Vinod Mehta, Editor-in-Chief of the weekly, said that the 72 names short-listed as “unfit to contest elections” under the criteria adopted by a panel including Justice Kuldip Singh, Madhav Godbole, S Subramanium and Swami Agnivesh, would be forwarded to the EC.
