THE ASSEMBLY polls are still over a year away, but followers of Congress and NCP have already started projecting their leaders as next CM. Huge posters of Congress state president Nana Patole as the future CM have propped up across Nagpur. It has taken many by surprise and is perceived as political assertion by Patole camp. A couple of weeks ago, some Vidarbha Congress leaders had complained to the central leadership against Patole including a demand to remove him as party president. A few months ago, similar one-upmanship for future CM was noted in NCP and followers of state NCP chief Jayant Patil put posters declaring him as future CM. It was followed by Ajit Pawar and Supriya Sule followers doing the same a few days later.
Infra Projects, Transfers
IN THE recent transfer of IAS officers, some are believed to have also lost out on plum postings as the government was unhappy with the rate at which certain infrastructure projects overseen by them were progressing. Since these projects impact the common man, the government is keen to have them functioning before the civic elections and the Assembly and general elections due next year.
High-profile Talathi
TALATHI IS the lowest possible bureaucratic position in administrative hierarchy working at a village level. And when a recommendation letter to transfer a Talathi to another location reaches directly at the Chief Minister’s Office, it becomes not only a matter of curiosity but also of worry, raising questions about involving the CMO. It becomes even more intriguing if the recommendation comes from a Lok Sabha MP.
2 Transfers In 24 Hrs
IN A span of 24 hours, a 1997-batch IAS officer, Asheesh Sharma, was transferred twice. He was shifted from the BMC to Urban Development Department and then to the MMRDA. The officer in-charge of Mumbai beautification works is known as a task-master and he now has a responsibility of completing MMRDA’s task, under the guidance of Chief Minister himself.
