Cared for by a team entirely dedicated to her well-being, Lilibet not only resides rent-free in a 5-star hotel but also lives an opulent, luxurious life that very few can only dream of. The Siberian cat is not just a resident of London’s The Lanesborough Hotel; she is also an unmistakable presence for guests and staff alike.

Lilibet’s charm has landed her the unofficial role of the property’s social media manager, with posts and videos on their Instagram feed regularly featuring the feline’s shenanigans. Wearing a handcrafted gold collar with the hotel’s sigil around her neck, Lilibet runs around the lobby, chasing mice and greeting guests to entertain herself all day. Ever since she stepped foot into The Lanesborough in 2019, the Siberian cat has become the brand ambassador of the property.

The BBC reports that Lilibet has a refined palette, occasionally indulging in luxurious caviar besides her regular cat treats. She likes to rest on plush sofas and beds, and stretch herself on the grand piano. The Cat Committee, a small community of feline lovers, tend to her whims and fancies on a regular basis.

That’s not all. Lilibet even has a cocktail named after her. Guests from far and wide visit the hotel to get a glimpse and interact with the green-eyed, caramel-coloured feline. They shower her with love, treats and gifts, while taking pictures for social media.

Also known as “Siberian”, this domestic cat breed originated in Russia. They have soft, fluffy coats and come in various colours — black, white, red, and tabby. “Look for a vet that has separate waiting rooms for cats and dogs, as canine-dominant waiting rooms can terrify felines,” he said, adding that when it comes to serving them food, you should put the boxes in visibly bright spaces. Inaccessible dark corners can freak cats out, as they feel vulnerable and wish to be able to see around them to feel comfortable and secure, he said.

Finally, he mentioned that cats are carnivores and that meat is the foundation of their diet. “Don’t exclusively feed them dry food, as consuming too many carbohydrates could be harmful to them,” he concluded.
