Ugadi, Gudi Padwa 2025 Date in India: Ugadi, or Telugu New Year Day, is the first day of the Hindu lunisolar calendar and is popularly celebrated by the Hindus in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka with great enthusiasm. Meanwhile, the same festival is celebrated in Maharashtra and Karnataka as Gudi Padwa and Yugadi, respectively, marking the arrival of spring and the reaping of rabi crops.
The festival is marked by various rituals and traditional culinary delights. People also create vibrant rangoli patterns known as kolamulus and adorn their doorways with mango leaves, referred to as torana.
Additionally, some also take a special oil bath, visit temples, engage in charitable giving, and prepare a unique dish called pachadi, which is made with a unique blend of flavours.
Similarly, on the day of Gudi Padwa, people create beautiful rangoli designs, display a Gudhi flag adorned with flowers and mango and neem leaves, and crown it with an upturned silver or copper pot.
Ugadi, or Gudi Padwa, usually falls on the first day of the Hindu lunisolar calendar month of Chaitra, which is late March or early April of the Gregorian calendar. This year, the festivals will be celebrated on March 30, 2025, falling on a Sunday, and is also coinciding with the commencement of another auspicious Hindu festival of Chaitra Navratri.
