Last year, five Mumbai-based theatre groups received the much-desired corporate push when Aadyam supported the production of five new plays. Each of them travelled to Delhi after their premiere in Mumbai. For its second edition, Aadyam is back with a new set of plays. Together the plays have 45 shows, spread across six months, scheduled in two cities.
Aadyam, an initiative by the Aditya Birla Group, has Rajat Kapoor helming Cinematograph’s I Don’t Like It. As You Like It and Nadir Khan directing Rage Theatre’s Twelve Angry Jurors. Sunil Shanbag continues to be part of Aadyam as he directs Arpana Theatre’s Loretta. Essay PPL’s Salim Arif will direct Chakkar Chalaye Ghanchakkar and Purva Naresh will direct Aarambh’s Ladies Sangeet.
Divya Bhatia, who has curated the plays for Aadyam, says that this year it has made the process of engaging with theatre more accessible.
Each play will be preceded by activities in the foyer of the venue which will be based on the themes of the plays.
