Dressed in black, right down to her no-nonsense shoes, a dash of pink lipstick adding a pop of colour to her appearance, Mehrun Nisha wears an attitude that is hard to miss. As she walks past a sea of strangers at Social, one of south Delhi’s most popular hangouts, she attracts many curious stares. But the 5’4” tall Nisha remains unconcerned. She strides through the restaurant, arms behind her back, her shoulders at sharp angles, keeping a lookout for any sign of trouble.

Nisha’s job brief for the last one year has been simple: she has to ensure that no arms or weapons make their way into the lounge, prevent drug abuse in the ladies’ restrooms, protect women from the prying eyes of drunk men and escort tipsy women back to safety.
