The alarm bell is ringing. It’s 6am in the morning. You wake up and grab a glass of water only to realise that you are already thinking of pending task with your thoughts moving to the tough boss, scheming colleagues, screaming kids, and demanding spouse. You sit down and make a to-do list, only to realise towards the later part of the day that most of the pending tasks are still sitting there prettily. What’s more? Chances are that in the course of the day, you have argued with your spouse/boss and picked up a fight at office with those mean colleagues. When you finally settle down after a tough day, you have nothing but stressful thoughts of another difficult day ahead.

Me time: In between, the morning chores, dedicate 15-20 minutes for your favourite hobby. It could be reading, writing, gardening, painting or anything on earth. This will reduce your stress levels to a great extent.

Gratitude: It might seem meaningless to begin with. But it’s worth trying. Say thank you to your spouse for being there for you; thank your children to provide meaning to your life. You can also feel grateful for all the comforts of life that make your life easy. You are actually generating a happy vibe by doing this, which in turn will stop the inflow of negative thoughts that might translate into a fight or argument.

Breakfast: A nutritious breakfast will keep your body energised. You will approach any work with enthusiasm once your energy levels are high. When you will perform the initial tasks of your day successfully, your mind will be inclined to complete the remaining jobs of the day efficiently. In all, you will feel immensely satisfied at the end of the day, which will make you happy.

Listen to music: For some people music is no less than meditation. In the morning, while you are in the midst of some chores, switch on your favourite music and see the difference.  Music relaxes your mind, muscles and body. In short, it reduces your stress levels, which is very important in today’s hectic lifestyle.

Talk to your loved ones: Thinking forever to call up your mom/relative/cousin/old friend? Do it now. You will feel wonderful and make the other person valued.

Smile: Last but not the least, before heading to work, make sure you give a warm smile to your family members. Also greet your colleagues with a smile once you begin your day at office. Believe me, the mean colleagues will not be so mean anymore!
