Try these home remedies for cracked heels. (Source: Getty/Thinkstock)When it comes to skincare, our feet are often overlooked, which can lead to dryness, cracked heels, and calluses. While cracked heels may not always be a cause for concern, they can be uncomfortable and painful, making it difficult to walk, particularly when the cracks are deep. It’s important to give our feet the attention they deserve to keep them looking and feeling their best.
If you also have cracked heels, we have got a couple of remedies that can be done at home and may alleviate the symptoms. Dr Geetika Mittal, a dermatologist, noted, “Try these three simple home remedies to soothe your cracked heels and give them some much-needed relief they need.”

Stay moisturised
Be consistent about applying creams on your feet. As per the expert, the feet should be moisturised at least twice a day if not more– once in the day and once before going to bed. “If you want heavy-duty hydration, add a thin layer of petroleum jelly, like Vaseline, to prevent moisture loss,” she added.
Buy moisturising socks
Grab a pair of socks that are made especially for dry and cracked heels. “These have ingredients like aloe vera, vitamin E, and shea butter that can intensely hydrate your skin,” she informed.
Use a foot soak
After your cracks have healed, reach out for foot soaks. There are many options in stores, but you can also use a combination of milk and honey to exfoliate. After this, use a pumice stone. However, remember to be gentle with this.
“If the proper, consistent application of products isn’t preventing cracked heels, check with your doctor. Sometimes it could be caused by a fungal infection. And never try to peel off dead skin by hand,” warned Dr Geetika.
