It’s tough to cope with hair fall considering the busy, fast-paced lives we lead. But often, it can be hard to take care of yourself, and to focus on truly listening to your body. Dr Vaishali, the founder of Vedamrit, recently shared some methods on her Instagram page to tackle hair fall and give your hair the nutrition and help it needs.
She shared her hair care tips in an Instagram reel. She captioned her post, “Losing few strands of hair everyday is a normal process, but if it is excessive and you are also able to observe thinning, it’s important to give your hair immediate attention.”
1.) Hair mask
She wrote, “Herbal hair masks are the best ways to take care of external hair nutrition.
• Amla – Rich in antioxidants, Vitamin C and Iron
• Bhringraj – one of the best herbs for hair health
• Mulethi – Helps with hair growth and regrowth
• Triphala – Helps with scalp exfoliation due it anti microbial properties.
PRO TIP – Can also use buttermilk as a base for mask instead of water for better benefits.”
2.) “Taking care of your scalp health. If your hair is loose from the tip, that’s an indication that your roots are weak and your scalp requires some extra care. Keep your scalp clean and also go for scalp stimulation exercises along with incorporating a healthy diet.”
3.) Nutrition for hair
• Protein rich meals (especially in breakfast or lunch)
• Dates
• Black raisins

We further discussed this with another Ayurveda expert, Karishma Shah. “If you have hair loss, you have to look at the root causes of it. It could be thyroid, PCOS, another hormone condition, low iron levels, low haemoglobin level or something else. Protein is the first thing to eat: your hair is made up of protein. So include a lot of that in your diet. Also, iron is to be ncluded. It’s important to eat foods rich in iron. Halim seeds and flax seeds are great for hair, so are walnuts and green leafy vegetables. Things like coconut and amla work wonders too,” she explained.
According to Harvard University, chronic stress can also cause hair loss. According to Healthline, using aloe vera and coconut oil can be extremely helpful — including consuming omega 3 fatty acids. Using onion juice, rosemary oil and geranium oil has also been proven to make a difference.
