Saumya Tandon is a stickler for good habits. Quitting sugar, sleeping early, staying active — time and again, the television actor has shared the secrets to her beauty and radiant glow. In a recent Instagram post, Tandon shared that she rarely goes on diets and instead swears by certain health hacks to stay on top of her health.

“You are what you eat. And since all keep saying I diet or ask what I eat to stay fit (slim, etc), I actually never diet, I have a few good habits which help me,” she mentioned in the caption of her Instagram post, stating the 5 hacks that transformed the quality of her life.

1. One tablespoon of ghee with turmeric and black pepper powder

Deepalakshmi, registered dietitian at Shree Balaji Medical Centre, Chennai explained that haldi or turmeric is loaded with anti-inflammatory properties, while ghee is rich in healthy fats. Together, they help regulate metabolism and keep the digestive tract smooth and functioning. “They also help tackle inflammation, reducing the risk of chronic diseases. Adding a pinch of black pepper helps the body curcumin (the key ingredient in turmeric) better,” she said.

2. One big glass of lukewarm water with grated ginger

Ginger is rich in antioxidants, along with vitamins A, C and E, as well as minerals like magnesium, potassium, and copper. Together, she said, they work as a solid immunity booster and help fight cold and cough.

3. No sugar, honey, and jaggery ever

When you quit sugar, you are prone to experiencing weight loss, improved insulin sensitivity, and more stable energy levels. Your skin is more likely to look clearer, your mood swings will reduce, and without a doubt, you gut health improves due to a better microbiome balance, Deepalakshmi added.

4. Protein-rich diet and including nuts throughout the day

Dr Shuchin Bajaj, founder-director, Ujala Cygnus Group of Hospitals, added that protein supports muscle growth, repair, and maintenance, aids weight management by promoting satiety, and contributes to the production of enzymes and hormones. Achieving a well-rounded protein intake involves diversifying your protein sources. Regularly consuming nuts, as they are a powerhouse of nutrients, helps improve your memory, digestion, and energy levels.

5. Finish dinner before 7 pm

Eating dinner early allows your body more time to digest the food before you go to bed. This can help prevent issues like acid reflux or indigestion that may arise when you lie down with a full stomach. When you eat earlier, your digestive system can work more efficiently, breaking down and absorbing nutrients effectively.
