Coronavirus News Highlights: Mumbai records first cases of BA.4, BA.5 sub-variant of Omicron

Covid India Cases News Highlights: 😷 On Monday, a total of 1,885 Covid-19 cases were reported in Maharashtra of which 1,118 were from Mumbai.

Coronavirus Cases in India Highlights: Mumbai has recorded first cases of three patients with the BA.4 variant, and one patient of BA.5 variant, according to the latest report from Kasturba Hospital Laboratory. All these patients are from 14 May to 24 May, out of which two are 11 year old girls and two are male in 40 to 60 years age group. All these patients have been cured in home isolation. On Monday, a total of 1,885 Covid-19 cases were reported in Maharashtra of which 1,118 were from Mumbai.

India reported 8,084 new Covid-19 cases and 10 deaths, according to data released by the Union Health Ministry Monday. As of Monday, active cases of Covid-19 stood at 47,995. The death tally rose to 5,24,771 and the number of people discharged from hospitals stands at 4,26,57,335, the health ministry’s data also showed.

In a separate development, China’s capital Beijing is facing an “explosive” Covid-19 outbreak connected to a bar, a government spokesman warned on Saturday, as the commercial hub of Shanghai began mass testing to contain a jump in cases tied to a popular beauty salon.
