Harvard-trained Dr Saurabh Sethi, in a recent Instagram reel, suggested three drinks––green tea, coffee and beetroot juice––to combat fatty liver. To get a broader perspective, indianexpress.com spoke to nutritionists about the potential benefits of these beverages.

“Green tea contains catechin, a component that can help improve liver function and reduce fat in the liver. Coffee consumption is associated with lower levels of liver enzymes, indicating better liver health. Beetroot juice contains betaine, which is known to reduce fat accumulation in the liver,” said Suman Agarwal, founder and nutritionist at SelfcarebySuman.

How often should one consume these drinks?

For liver health, consume three to four cups of coffee, two to three cups of green tea, and one cup of beetroot juice daily,” said nutritionist Pooja Palriwala. According to her, these amounts are generally safe and can help reduce liver enzyme levels, improve liver function, and support detoxification.
