Archana Puran Singh, who was shooting for a Rajkumar Rao production, met with an accident during a night shift. Taking to her YouTube channel with help from her husband, Parmeet Sethi, the actor expressed shock over the accident. “See what has happened. I had an accident during a shooting, and I fell down. First time. I never thought in life that I would have broken my wrist. Of course, it does happen with people. But I thought mere saath kabhi nahi hoga aisa. (I thought it would not happen to me). I was in shock. Yesterday, I didn’t allow any cameras. Today, I am feeling better,” said Singh, who was discharged from hospital post-surgery after an overnight stay.
“I was doing night shifts when this happened. I am fine now. Yesterday, I was in shock. I thought the operation would be traumatic. But it was good. I have learned a few lessons from this experience. Anything can happen. Everything is sorted after some time, even when you feel bad and out,” added Singh, mentioning that she would shoot for 2 days for only three hours to complete the pending scenes.
Dr Satyanarayana E, consultant, joint replacement and arthroscopy surgeon, Gleneagles Aware Hospital, L.B. Nagar, Hyderabad, said recovering from wrist surgery requires careful adherence to medical advice to ensure proper healing and regain functionality.

Precautions to take:
Immobilisation: After surgery, the wrist is usually immobilised with a cast, splint, or brace. Avoid lifting, twisting, or any movement that strains the wrist.
Pain management: Take prescribed pain medications as directed. Ice packs can help reduce swelling but must be applied with a protective cloth to prevent skin damage.
Wound care: Keep the surgical site clean and dry. Watch for signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, or unusual discharge.
Follow-up: Attend all follow-up appointments to monitor healing. X-rays or scans may be performed to check bone alignment and progress.
Recovery typically takes 6-12 weeks but can vary depending on the type and extent of surgery. “Initial healing occurs in 4-6 weeks, but complete recovery, including strength and flexibility, may require additional time and rehabilitation,” said Dr Satyanarayana.
What to note:
*Begin physical therapy as advised to restore mobility and strength. Exercises should be gradual and supervised.
*Focus on a diet rich in calcium and protein to support bone healing.
*Avoid smoking, as it can delay recovery.
Proper care, patience, and adherence to your doctor’s recommendations are essential for a successful recovery.
