So, to provide solution to this great dilemma of paring a snack with an exclusive drink, a Swedish brewery named, St Erik’s have come out with special potato chips to complement their opulent India pale ale beer. As the company puts it, “Doesn’t a first class beer – like ours – deserve a world-class snack to match it? Well, of course it does.”
We all love our munching our all-time favourite snack – potato chips, but how far are you willing to invest for a packet of your lovely food? Before you delve into that monetary equation let us tell you what exactly makes up for the world’s most expensive potato chips packet, rather a box.
In a quest to find the ‘deserving snack’, the company along with the Swedish National Culinary Team composed the recipe for the elusive chips. The chips are readied with exotic items that are not only rare but also sometimes the most expensive ingredient. It contains – Matsutake, one of the world’s most sought-after species of mushrooms that originates from the pine forests of Sweden; truffle seaweed, which has a flavor reminiscent of truffles, only found in cold tidal waters; crown dill, was hand-picked on the Bjäre Peninsula in southern Sweden and selected for its fresh, yet powerful flavour; the sought-after Leksand Onion that has special sowing and harvest dates and finally the India pale ale wort to add just the perfect tinge of sweetness to the chips’ flavour.
And along with all these enchanting seasoning, the potatoes used to make the chips “comes from the hillside in Ammarnäs, a steep, stony slope in a south-facing location where almond potatoes are cultivated in very limited numbers.”
So, after these entire rare ingredients, much is not left for a foodie to wonder what might cost a box of this lavish affair.
Well, the brewery from Sweden that has come up with an exclusive box of chips that is contains the set of five chips that would cost roughly $11 per chip and $56 for the box. So in Indian currency it would burn a hole in your pocket over Rs3,700.
