One of the fittest actors around who is always keenly sharing glimpses from her extensive workouts, Soha Ali Khan needs no introduction. In fact, she always appears to make healthier choices as much as possible. As such, when she shared a glimpse of what looked like her breakfast for the day, we couldn’t stop ourselves from learning about the health benefits of such a delectable spread.

She shared a glimpse of overnight-soaked oats preparation. “Obsessed,” wrote Soha on her Instagram Stories

Taking a cue from her breakfast diaries, we decided to understand more about this preparation.

Shruti Bhardwaj, senior clinical dietician, Narayana Multispecialty Hospital, Ahmedabad, said that oats combined with nuts and seeds create a filling meal due to their high fibre, protein, and healthy fat content. “Fibre and protein slow down digestion, promoting a longer-lasting feeling of fullness. The fats in nuts and seeds also contribute to satiety,” said Bhardwaj.

According to Bhardwaj, a typical serving might include 1/2 to 1 cup of cooked oats, a small handful of nuts (e.g., 10-15 almonds, 2-3 walnuts), and a tablespoon of seeds (e.g., chia, flax). “Adjust the portions based on your calorie needs and preferences. Remember to consider the overall balance of your diet for optimal nutrition,” Bhardwaj opined.

Dr Santosh Pandey, naturopath and acupuncturist, Rejua Energy Center, Mumbai also mentioned that since oats are high in fibre and low in sodium, it makes them a heart-healthy choice. “Eating oatmeal for breakfast can help lower blood pressure throughout the day,” said Dr Pandey.
