India’s love for Italian food is reaching a new height. Like Dominos and Pizza Hut mushrooming around the country wasn’t enough, now Pizza ATMs are marking its presence too. Yes, you heard us right. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is planning to install anytime-pizza machines in collaboration with Yess Pizza at five of the busiest railways stations in Mumbai: Kalyan, LTT, Mumbai Central, CST and Andheri.
One such machine is already operational in suburban Mulund. Its installer, Mitesh Thakkar of Yess Pizza, told The Mumbai Mirror that they are looking to take the project further. “A few days ago, our team visited Kalyan station to look at the proposed spot where the machine can be installed,” Mitesh said.
The ATP Kiosk will work just like an ATM – insert a token and choose from any of the four varieties, toppings are extra. “Freshly baked with delicious choice of toppings, Yess Pizza’s large thincrust pizza for a sumptuous meal. Why wait in queue or 30 minutes for a home delivery when you can have a delicious pizza in a matter of minutes,” says their website.
Just think, it’s late and you are craving for pizza but all food joints on your route are shut. You simply go to these vending machines or Anytime Pizza (ATP) Kiosks and voila! It’s right there infront of you in just 5 mins. The best part is that you can see the entire process from kneading the dough to baking the pizza while standing at the platform. It’s like an open kitchen but inside a box!
The only problem is that all the four varieties — Classic Tangy Margherita Pizza, Simply Veg Pizza, Premium Veg Pizza and Premium Paneer Pizza — are vegetarian but there is always cheese to satisfy your tastebuds!
According to the report IRCTC public relations officer Pinakin Morawala said, “We are committed to providing fresh and tasty hygienic food to commuters at stations.”
