Shilpa Shetty has always been extremely vocal about her love for yoga and her svelte figure bears testimony to that. The actress frequently posts videos of herself doing yoga on social media and they do serve as great inspiration for her fans. Recently, the actress posted a video in which she was performing Sirsasana, the head stand pose that is often considered as one of the most important inverted asanas. The actress added that though she has been practising yoga for 15 years, she had always been “scared” to attempt Sirsasana.

Matters got only more difficult as she had suffered from cervical spondolisis in the past for which she was “bedridden for a month”. She admits that she kept on postponing practising this asana and used excuses like age and professional commitments; but egged on by her yoga teacher, she finally took the plunge, and within a month she could do without any support.

“You just have to have Faith.. and BELIEVE. Will power, determination, positivity and practice will make anything you want to achieve possible,” the actress wrote.

Why sirsasana?

If you are already feeling inspired after watching the video then now is a good time to know about the benefits of the asana. Often hailed as the king of asanas, Sirsasana has multiple benefits. The inverted posture increases the flow of blood to your brain and revitalises the mind. It also helps in reducing stress, depression and insomnia. Practising the asana will also help in strengthening the muscles in the neck, abdomen, shoulders and arms.

So, take out those yoga mats, maybe?
