How do box jumps help?

Box jumps help build explosive strength, said Varun Rattan, co-founder, The Body Science Academy, Noida. “This means you produce more force in less time. It is good for training the fast twitch muscle fiber called ‘type 2’ muscles,” said Rattan. However, the expert had a word of caution for Rakul. “The butt kick exercise combination is only going to tire you out quickly, which can mess up the jumps and may lead to a fall.”

In another video shared by Rakul on her Instagram, she could be seen doing a combination of body weight exercises. Take a closer look.

“Let’s get fit to the beats. #challengeaccepted,” Rakul captioned the post.

“As a challenge, it’s a made-up exercise. It’s a combination of a push-up, plank jack, low-plank-to-high-plank,” shared Rattan.

How does the challenge help?

According to Rattan, the exercise can “increase working muscles ‘time under tension’ to get the most out of one’s session’.” “This combination will also elevate the heart rate in fewer reps as compared to a single exercise,” he told indianexpress.com.

What to keep in mind?

“Creativity is a prerogative of a trainer. All challenging routines are good as long as they serve a purpose and aren’t just created for ‘likes’ on Instagram,” shared Rattan.

What more?

Pay attention to posture, stressed Rattan. “Long combinations have the potential to tire you out faster and one shouldn’t be focused on completing a certain number of repetitions if the form gets compromised early on in the set,” said Rattan.
