Guys, you have competition! No, not us. Huma Qureshi has challenged that no one can beat her when it comes to a leg workout. “I can beat anyone. Any guy at the leg workout game. Open challenge,” said the Monica, O My Darling actor in a “sassy” response only rapid fire with Tweak India.

When asked how she would like to address trolls who comment on her not having a beach body, she quipped, “Oh, you have no idea what you are missing out on! I am loving this, suddenly being my sassy self.”

So, are you ready for a lower-body workout challenge?

But before that, let’s understand why lower-body workouts are crucial.

Lower body workouts are associated with multiple health-related benefits, stressed consultant neurologist Dr Sudhir Kumar, Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad, a fitness buff. “These include greater muscle strength and balanced leg muscles. For an older person, these could translate into a lesser risk of falls. Posture also improves. These workouts also help maintain bone density and reduce the risk of osteoporosis,” Dr Kumar explained.

Lower body workouts are also associated with better metabolic health, such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases.

“People who regularly engage in lower body workouts can expect to improve their performance. Runners can run faster and longer distances. The risk of injuries also reduces,” said Dr Kumar.

The aim is to work the quadriceps, hamstrings, adductors, glutes, and calves. “Some useful lower body workouts include squats, lunges, deadlifts, knee extension and flexion exercises, jogging at one spot, calf raises, and jumping jacks,” said Dr Kumar.
