Jitendra Chouksey recently praised entrepreneur Nithin Kamath and his wife, Seema Patil, both in their 40s, for their commitment to fitness. “Did a high-intensity session this morning! Nithin Kamath is 46 now, Seema is 45! But they can still put folks in their 20s to shame! Despite their personal health setbacks, they’ve both come out so strong, and I am so proud of them! They’re an inspiration to the whole generation,” Chouksey, Fittr founder, noted in a Facebook post.

Chouksey added, “For those who don’t know, Nithin had a stroke, and Seema went through cancer. And now look at them! Healthier than ever, all bio markers in optimal range! All work, no shortcuts, just basics!”

Nithin and Seema’s recoveries are remarkable — their commitment, discipline, and routine are undeniable — but optimal biomarkers result from consistent sleep, nutrition, stress management, medical follow-up, and personalised interventions, not just ‘hard work’ or high-intensity training.

While inspiring, comparing the fitness of individuals in their 40s with those in their 20s can oversimplify biology, contended Kanikka Malhotra, consultant dietitian and diabetes educator. “Every recovery story is unique, and what works for one person may not be safe or effective for another. Even optimal biomarkers need to be understood in context, not glorified,” asserted Malhotra.

Recovery after health setbacks involves structured rehabilitation, evidence-based nutrition, and phases of supervised exercise, all tailored to the body’s changing metabolic demands, as described by Malhotra.

“Genetics, access to quality healthcare, and early detection also play a major role,” said Malhotra.

So while their journey is motivating, the truth is this: health is not about competing with someone younger; it’s about respecting your physiology, staying consistent with the basics, and following a plan grounded in medical science — not comparison, shortcuts, or extremes, said Malhotra.

Sustainable fitness comes from gradual and realistic habits. “And no matter the age, the fundamentals — nourishment, movement, medical guidance, and recovery,” said Malhotra.
