Seema Kiran Sajdeh’s fitness transformation has been incredible, and she rightfully credits her trainer, Rohan Apte, for guiding her journey, as seen in the latest season of Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives on Netflix. In episode 4, Seema, 48, trains with friend and actor Neelam Soni under Apte’s watchful eye. “Rohan Apte, my trainer, is really good at his job,” Seema says, gesturing to herself. “This is thanks to Rohan Apte.”

Indianexpress.com reached out to Apte to understand more about his association with Seema, which began “right after season one” of Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives in 2020.

Apte, a certified coach with K11, VLCC, and the American College of Sports Medicine, shared insights into Seema’s fitness goals in an exclusive interview: “Her aim is to build muscular and cardiovascular endurance,” he said. We design her workouts to keep her energised without exhausting her, as her days are packed with meetings and shoot schedules. Exercises are planned a few days ahead to ensure a boost of endorphins and adrenaline during and after the workout.”

Apte, 40, began his career in aerobics in 2002-2003 when he was 17 years old, and has since expanded his expertise. “It has been going on since then and I have added more routines which include yoga, breathing exercises, strength, mobility, rolling exercises, making it even more holistic and result-oriented,” said Apte.

According to him, “Seema responds well to a combination of cardio conditioning and strength training. Warm-ups are followed by back and hip mobility. We then start with cardio conditioning by doing Tabata exercises, and then move to circuit training for strength and cardio again, followed by cooldowns –– stretches and core exercises,” said Apte.

Apte gave a sneak peek into Seema’s daily fitness routine. “Seema ensures to workout five days a week (give or take a day or two), usually divided into one day of complete cardio; three to four days personally with me, and one day of yoga, followed by recovery massages,” said Apte.

Apte applauded her consistency, saying, “She is extremely consistent with her workouts. No matter how stressful or long the day is, she makes a point to put the work in, even if it means changing her workout time for that day. But she gets the job done!”

Asked about Seema’s preferences, Apte said, “She’s not a fan of stretches but loves her cardio conditioning.” As for what keeps her motivated, he said, “It’s all about the music she plays—it brings the whole workout to life.”
