Armaan Malik on how Salman Khan made him train (Photo: Armaan Malik/Facebook)Singer Armaan Malik and content creator Aashna Shroff welcomed filmmaker and YouTuber Farah Khan and her cook Dilip into their home, where the former spoke about life, family, and his journey.
During the conversation, he recalled how Salman Khan told him and his brother, Amaal Malik, to lose weight for a video song in Jai Ho (2014). “He put me and Amaal in the starting, like you both will be in the video song – Love you till the end. He gave me a warning…you are going to be shirtless…I was like, this is not possible… ‘re both healthy kids, khaana aur gaana, we love… but he put me on this rigorous dance-and-workout schedule…I lost around 10-15 kilos…I was looking my leanest ever…thankfully, shirt nahi utaari….unhone bola who sirf tujhe daraane ke liye tha (thankfully, I was not required to take off my shirt…he said…it was only to scare me…)” recalled Armaan.
This particular incident highlights an important truth about fitness transformations. “Intense goals demand structured routines, consistent effort, and a diet that supports both energy and recovery. From a nutrition perspective, such results are rarely achieved through a single factor. They come from a blend of high physical activity, disciplined eating, adequate rest and gradual progression,” said fitness expert and consultant dietitian Garima Goyal.
Stressing that for someone undergoing a physically demanding routine like Armaan, the focus should be on maintaining muscle mass while losing fat, Goyal said, “This requires adequate protein, fibre, healthy fats and micronutrients to fuel recovery and sustain performance. The fact that he describes himself as ‘leanest ever’ indicates that his regimen prioritised not just weight loss but also strength and definition.”

However, it is important to note that such transformations, often driven by short-term goals such as film projects, may not be practical or sustainable for everyone.
For most individuals, gradual progress with balanced nutrition, consistent exercise and proper recovery yields better long-term results.
“Armaan’s experience serves as motivation to commit to fitness but also as a reminder that true transformation is most effective when it is personalised, consistent and sustainable,” said Goyal.
