Vaani Kapoor has been in the news not just for her upcoming film Befikre, co-starring Ranveer Singh, but also for her impressive sartorial choices. While the actress had all of us going gaga over almost each and every dress, skirt, top and trouser combo she’s been choosing these past few weeks, we were in for a little disappointment when we saw the latest magazine cover shared by the actress herself on her Instagram page.
Kapoor’s first Vogue cover – shot by Richard Ramos – has her in a Burberry green dress and jewellery by Cartier. The jungle print of the dress is a tad bit too much for our taste, but add that to the moss green chair she awkwardly sitting on, the overall impact of the picture is a bit off. The one thing that does match is her slightly feral stance (check out the way she’s angled her face) that matches the dress print in concept.
There is no denying the confidence oozing out of Kapoor’s face, her perfectly toned legs looking great as ever. We love the attitude coming through in that expression! Styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania, that very tribal-looking belt is one to keep. Make-up by Karin Darnell is on-point and very structured, highlighting the actress’ cheekbones, adding to her confident gaze.
What sets this cover shoot apart, though, is that it’s a far cry from her previous shoots for, say, Maxim or Harper’s Bazaar, where the Shuddh Desi Romance girl went all Befikre and bold. And though we love the versatility she’s showing with her style quotient, this is one of those rare instances where we think it doesn’t really work for her, especially given the run she’s been having.
For instance, Kapoor looked like a million dollar bucks on the sets of ‘Super Dancer’ a dance-based reality show to promote her upcoming release along with her co-actor Ranveer Singh. She looked mesmerising in her black bodycon midi dress from Michael by Michael Kors. She chose sexy piked Louboutin heels as her footwear while her red lips did some talking of their own. With her mid-parted curled hair left loose, she did a subtle balancing act with her neat chic look.
The same day, Kapoor looked like the perfect marriage of retro and desi in her polka dotted pant suit from Ashish N Soni, giving us major suit fashion goals! Her wisely chosen attire complimented her silhouette and she completed her look with snakeskin pumps and a really cool watch from Ulysse Nardin. She kept her hair casually open with a centre-parting, letting those wavy curls frame her face.
