After we’ve seen plastic jeans, half-jeans and mud jeans take the fashion scene by storm this year, Japanese designer Meiko Ban showcased yet another bizarre take on the favourite garment at the recently held Amazon Fashion Week in Tokyo. Being popularly called the ‘thong jeans’, this piece of clothing was part of his 2018 Spring/Summer Collection and features a pair of jeans with just the seams on display.
Well, we won’t be complaining about ventilation with this pair, that’s for sure.
The Thibaut jeans is all tattered and not much is left of it except the seams, with the front and back panels of both legs taken off leaving a thong-like design, thus, taking the concept of cut-out jeans to a whole different level. The model showcasing the ‘thong jeans’ wore a nude bodysuit to go with it, creating quite a stir in the fashion circles. Of course, given the fact that much of the jeans has been cut out, it would have been nice to have those fragments for dusting knick-knacks around the house – a use most Indian families would be quite familiar with.
This unusual pair of jeans has not gone down too well with people at large on social media. While one user asked “Who is making these pants? It’s like someone let a 3rd grader with scissors loose in a Wal Mart,” another wrote “This planet really just needs an asteroid hit.”

Soon after photos of the ‘thong jeans’ hit social media, the reactions to it were quite strong, some even called it a play for attention on the part of the designer.
Nobody is actually going to wear that. I think fashion designers just make crazy 💩 for fashion shows just to get attention. 👀at me! 👀 at me!

Others felt the jeans looked like “Clothes after a being put through a wood chipper.”

And some did not hold back the sarcasm and said that at this rate “buying a spool of thread” would suffice for an entire wardrobe.
At this rate, you could buy a spool of thread and that’s your whole wardrobe.

Some said they would rather wear nothing than wear this.
I would prefer to wear nothing.. than this….nonsense

And another wrote the pair of jeans looked like what his “sister designed these for her husband before she left them.”
Hell my sister designed these jeans for her husband before she left em.
