THERE have been several times in the past when designer Pria Kataria Puri, who splits her time between Mumbai and Kuwait, has faced the camera post a fashion show or as a guest where she is the interviewee. It’s now time for role reversal.

Known for her signature drapes and billowing printed kaftans, Puri is also now a television chat show host. Born Stylish, that premiered on Colors Infinity channel on November 28, has Puri chatting up leading fashion designers from across the world along with Bollywood’s stylish set. “When I heard the concept of the show, I was all game. There are a lot of programmes on Indian television that talk of trends and cover fashion weeks. But I was most excited by the fact that I would get an opportunity to interview some of the leading names in international fashion in a fun, conversational format,” says Puri, who has an enviable list to boast.

The designer will interview international fashion icons such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Anna Zegna of Ermenegildo Zegna and Massimiliano Giornetti of Salvatore Ferragamo among others. “Given the fact that it’s a chat show, it was important to research well. All the international names on the show said that India is an important fashion and luxury destination for them,” says Puri.

Each episode will have a theme appropriate for the celebrity guest. “They will be talking about their style quotient and how it has grown, both on and off-screen. I was pleasantly surprised that most of them have a personal take and are very clued into trends,” says Puri, who will be togged in not just her own designs.
While actor Akshay Kumar featured in the first episode, the following episodes will see the likes of Sonakshi Sinha, Anil Kapoor and Fawad Khan giving a peek into their wardrobes and also offering style tips. “Fawad Khan told me how Hollywood cinema of the ’60s and ’70s influenced his sense of style. He is extremely up-to-date with trends and likes the classic style of Cary Grant. He admits to having a fetish for pocket squares,” says Puri, adding that the format of the show would appeal to all age groups.

Born Stylish will air every Saturday at 8.30 pm on Colors Infinity and Vh1 simultaneously
