Suket Dhir wins menswear regional finals of International Woolmark Prize

Delhi-based designer Suket Dhir was announced the winner of the 2015/16 International Woolmark Prize (IWP) India, Pakistan and Middle East regional final in the menswear category in Dubai last evening.

Delhi-based designer Suket Dhir was announced the winner of the 2015/16 International Woolmark Prize (IWP) India, Pakistan and Middle East regional final in the menswear category in Dubai last evening.

At a glittering event held at the Manzil Downtown Dubai, Dhir impressed the judges with his unique Merino wool fabric developments and innovative hand-woven techniques.

“I am extremely proud to have received this accolade from such a prestigious institution, particularly when taking into account all the amazing designers that have come before me,” he said in a press release.

As a regional winner, Dhir stands to gain a financial reward of AED 136,112, plus a chance to compete in the menswear final to be held in Florence in January 2016.

The eventual winner of the IWP 2015/16 will be awarded an additional AED 272,224, and the opportunity to be stocked at stores like Harvey Nichols (London), 10 Corso Como (Milan, Beijing and Shanghai), Matchesfashion.com (online), Mytheresa.com (online), Saks Fifth Avenue (NYC), among others.
