For a designer who has never walked the ramp at a FDCI fashion week, getting a felicitation slot on day one of AIFW is serendipitous.
Suket Dhir, who won the prestigious International Woolmark Prize menswear award this January, found himself at a small party hosted by FDCI President Sunil Sethi at the venue on Wednesday.
“It’s good to know that the industry is acknowledging my achievements,” says Dhir, who was gifted a saffron-coloured cashmere stole by. Recently, Dhir was asked to give recommendations to RSS regarding a change in wardrobe.
“I suggested colours, fits and size to keep the look contemporary and smart. I recommended grey melange because India is a warm country, and logistically this colour works best. I am not sure what colour they have picked,” says Dhir.
Contrary to what recent media reports suggest, he was only asked for suggestions, and is not responsible for the makeover.
