Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his wishes to the nation on the 77th Independence Day as he delivered his 10th consecutive address from the Red Fort. In keeping with tradition since 2014, he sported a special turban with his outfit which caught everyone’s attention.
PM Modi was seen wearing a multicoloured Rajasthani Bandhani print turban. He paired it with an off-white kurta and churidar for the Independence Day celebrations at the historic Red Fort. Alongside, he also wore a black V-neck jacket with his turban, which featured hues of yellow, green, and red with a long tail at the back.
Every year, PM Modi is seen wearing the traditional headgear of different states of the country for his crucial address to the nation on Independence Day. In 2022, he chose a saffron turban with red patterns and a long tail. He teamed it with a traditional kurta and a churidar, complemented by a blue jacket and a stole.
As for 2021, PM Modi was seen in a saffron and cream safa, which he paired with a half-sleeved kurta and a fitted churidar.
In view of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, he wore a white scarf with a saffron border that he used to cover his mouth and nose. An orange and yellow safa with a long trail also accompanied it.
In 2019, the Prime Minister was seen wearing a red and orange leheriya turban with a tinge of cream. It was teamed with a white kurta and churidar.
In 2018, he kept it simple and striking in a plain orange and red safa with a long tail. He wore it with a white kurta and a black and white stole.
In 2017, PM Modi was seen in a yellow and red turban featuring criss-cross golden embroidery with a tail right up to the feet.
In 2016, he delivered his Independence Day speech in a white chequered kurta and a contrasting tie and dye turban in pink, red, and yellow.
For his address in 2015, he opted for a patterned orange turban with shades of blue, red, and green. He paired it with a beige kurta and Nehru jacket.
PM Modi delivered his first Independence Day address as the Prime Minister in a polka-dotted red Jodhpuri turban and an off-white kurta.
