Naomi Campell glided down the runway in panache while closing the Alexander Mcqueen show for Sarah Burton one last time. And it seems, we’re not the only ones who were emotional at the sight.
The OG supermodel can be seen wiping away her tears discreetly as all eyes were on her in a knockout structural silver piece from the collection, oh so reminiscent of Burton’s usual bold tailoring.

Campbell also shared a heartwarming ode to the designer on Instagram, who is stepping down from the helm at Alexander Mcqueen — after nearly 30 years at the house, out of which 13 were spent as the creative director when Mcqueen himself tragically passed away in 2010.
“What HONOR to close a chapter of excellence with Sarah Burton SS24 .. You are not only amazing creative, you are an exceptional wife, mother and most loyal friend ..with the purest heart ., this is not goodbye this is THE BEGINNING OF AN ERA OF SARAH BURTON , I .. know that Lee was shining down on you Proudly. You held it down for 27 years !!! I salute you and all the @alexandermcqueen team. Now I look forward to you DOING YOU,(sic)” Naomi wrote on Instagram.

For the unversed, Burton took over the brand in 2010, having worked alongside the groundbreaking designer for 14 years. She famously created the wedding dress worn by Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales when she married Prince William in 2011.
The front row at the show was filled with A-list celebrities, including Cate Blanchett, who routinely wears creations from the brand, Elle Fanning, Anna Wintour; all of whom congregated to bid an emotional goodbye to the designer.

According to the show notes, the collection was influenced by “female anatomy, Queen Elizabeth I, the blood red rose, and Magdalena Abakanowicz, a transgressive and powerfully creative artist who refused to ever compromise her vision.” Burton dedicated her final bow to Lee, adding that his “wish was always to empower women.”
Following Campbell’s entrance, David Bowie’s Heroes played as the models completed their final run on the runway.
As Burton came to accept her standing ovation and hug VIP guests, the audience was already on its feet clapping. The McQueen house has yet to declare who will take over as creative director.
