The most important question – ‘What will Priyanka Chopra Jonas wear to the Met Gala 2019’ has been finally answered. The Quantico actor, who attended the event for the third time this year, turned heads, just like her previous appearances. If we might add, this by far is her best look.
Sending shockwaves in a dramatic Dior gown from its Spring 2018 collection, the actor reminded us of Edward Scissorhands from the 1990 fantasy film of the same name. Some even likened her to the Mad Hatter from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.
Feather details added drama to the nude-coloured gown. We simply love the thigh-high slit and the matching cape that was paired with the ensemble.
Curated by Mimi Cuttrell, the look mostly stands out for the way the actor’s hair was styled. The short, frizzy hairdo was dramatic and the silver fascinator only added to the overall effect. Even her make-up was applause-worthy with the detailed silver eye make-up, dark maroon lips, a bindi and glitter face adornments.
She rounded out her look with a stack of bangles and a pair of sheer gloves with crystal embellishments.
Her husband Nick Jonas, who accompanied her to the event, was spotted in a white Dior suit. He accessorised it with multiple silver earrings.
The theme of this year’s most significant fashion fundraiser event was ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’. Merriam-Webster defines Camp as a style or mode of personal or creative expression marked by absurd exaggeration. The style also conflates elements of high with popular culture. The Costume Institute’s spring 2019 exhibition intended to explore the origins of the camp’s aesthetic. The actor, with all its theatrics, seemed to be in perfect sync with this year’s theme.
Last year, the actor had attended the event donning a deep burgundy strapless velvet gown from Ralph Lauren. We had really liked the intricately beaded and jewelled hood. The theme for last year was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.
For her debut appearance, she had compelled fashion critics to sit up and take notice as she stepped out in a Ralph Lauren trench coat. The long train, hair tied in a top knot and popped collars made the look iconic.
We really admire her for her boldness on the pink carpet, do you?
