(Source: Unsplash)The Ladakh International Music Festival (LIMF) is returning in 2023 with a unique fashion show being held at the world’s highest motorable road, Umling La, at a height of 19,022 feet.
Named the Ladakh International Fashion Runway, the event is scheduled to be held sometime between August 23 and September 3, this year. Aiming to echo the spirit of the G20 summit, the event is an initiative from the Ladakh Art and Entertainment Alliance (LAEA).
The show will feature women leaders from the member countries of G20 and guest countries, including pageantry crown holders like the Miss Universes, Miss Worlds and Miss Earths from across the world, who will be sharing ideas of empowerment and peace.
According to reports, some of the beauties who will be a part of the festivities are Miss Earth India Vanshika Parmar, Miss Earth Italy Giulia Ragazzini, Miss Earth USA Lindsey Coffey, Miss Universe Japan Yuumi Kato, Miss Earth UK Luissa Burton, Miss Earth Germany Annabella Fleck and Miss World Bangladesh Rafah Nanjeba Torsa, among others.

Tashi Gyalson, Chairman of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), professed delight in holding the event in Ladakh to news agency ANI. He emphasised the need of linking local values to global decisions and promoting the notion of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ a Sanskrit word that translates to “the world is one family.”
In a novel twist, each model will contribute half a kilogram of sand from their own country. Following the event, this sand will be mixed with concrete and placed in a pre-made artistic mould of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ symbolising togetherness and mirroring the G20 ethos.
LAEA co-founder and LIMF founder Sushil Chaudhary highlighted the festival’s continued engagement with the Indian Army and the LAHDC. “This year, we are excited to incorporate the new Ladakh Fashion Runway, making the event even more expansive and memorable,” he added.
The event, according to Pankaj Gupta, Director and Co-Founder of LAEA, is an official endeavor to obtain a new record in the Guinness World Book of Records. “It is time for India to stand up for what it truly believes in. Miss Worlds, Universes and Earths across the globe will participate in this runway to celebrate and immortalise the Presidency of the G20 summit,” he added.
The festival boasts dramatic performances, amazing couture, breathtaking landscape, and an appreciation of culture, arts, and friendship in the heart of the Himalayas.
