The Indian Couture Week 2023, which kickstarted on Tuesday, is witnessing acclaimed fashion designers enthraling fashion lovers with their impeccable collection of ethnic ensembles. However, the inaugural show was special for more than one reason! The first day of the fashion extravaganza served lessons on inclusivity in fashion with an out-and-proud gay model Rabanne Victor walking the runway for Falguni Shane Peacock.

For the unversed, Victor began his professional life as a model at 27 and regularly models for acclaimed Kolkata-based designer Sabyasachi.

In collaboration with Reliance Brands, the opening display of FDCI’s Hyundai India Couture Week 2023 featured the collection ‘Renaissance Reverie’ by Falguni Shane Peacock with actor Kiara Advani walking the ramp as a showstopper in a brilliant pink embroidered ensemble.

Kiara’s hot pink dress included a beautiful bralette with wide shoulder straps and a plunging V-neckline that highlighted her décolletage. Her stomach was exposed by the asymmetrical cut hem, which was embellished with shimmering sequined decorations, beaded fringes, and backless details.

According to a press release, the Peacocks’ passion for art and travel served as the collection’s inspiration, and the clothes served as “a testament to cultural exchange.”

“Our collection, ‘Renaissance Reverie,’ pays tribute to the Renaissance period and represents a harmonious fusion of rich Indian culture, techniques, and craftsmanship,” they said.

The ballet and its Baroque look also reflected the Renaissance link, while the skill of artisans was evident as models strutted down the runway covered in bling.
