Sure, you love Dolce & Gabbana and you lust after their shoes, bags and not to forget, the amazing gowns. But, have you got the fridge? Yes, you heard us right. Dolce & Gabbana, the Milanese fashion house is now selling, if we may call it, the world’s most ornate fridges that can be yours for around $42,000. Yes, the rather mundane appliance where you keep your food just became an item of luxury. Why? Because it’s fashion!

Domenico Dolce and Stephano Gabbana, who are masters at creating covetable everyday objects, collaborated with Italian appliance brand Smeg, to create 100 limited-edition fridges. Then they tapped into the talents of Sicilian artists to give each fridge a unique and quirky Italian touch. Each piece, under the personal direction from the designers, were painted with provincial symbols and medieval scenes — all of which is to have required around 240 hours of workmanship.

According to a GQ report, Dolce & Gabbana said, “The collaboration between the premium appliance manufacturer and world famous fashion house has materialised through a united passion for ‘Made in Italy’ excellence, a deep respect for family tradition and the importance of maintaining local roots.”

This is not the first time Smeg has come out with a designer fridge. Previously, the appliances firm worked with BMW to create a Mini Cooper-inspired fridge, and thereafter a crystal-encrusted, gold piece with Swarovski.

The Dolce & Gabbana fridge collection will debut at world furniture exhibition Salone Internazionale Del Mobile, which begins on April 12 in Milan. It won’t be a surprise if 100 pieces fly off the floor.
