Known for her innovative and refreshing approach to traditional silhouettes, designer Arpita Mehta has carved a niche for herself in the fashion industry. Establishing her eponymous label in 2008, she has had the privilege of dressing some of Bollywood’s most prominent figures, including Madhuri Dixit and Priyanka Chopra.

In 2012, the talented designer introduced the concept of contemporary mirror work, which has now become her signature style. However, what truly distinguishes Mehta is her unwavering commitment to her unique aesthetic and individuality — allowing her to reinvent herself with every passing season.

Her latest collection, ‘A Bride’s World,’ exemplifies this creative dynamism.

“In the days leading up to her wedding, a bride experiences a kaleidoscope of emotions, reflecting on the past and eagerly anticipating a shared future. Yet, every bride is distinct, with hopes and dreams that set her apart from the generations before her and the friends and family who surround her. Each piece in the collection speaks to a different kind of bride,” she explains.

In an exclusive interview with indianexpress.com, Mehta delves into the inspiration behind her latest collection, her design philosophy, the evolution of fashion, her thoughts on sustainability in the fashion industry. She also offers her fashion advice to others. Read the excerpts below:
