Fashion industry is one of the biggest contributors to pollution. With increased awareness, people are trying to make eco-friendly choices and reduce their carbon footprint. Celebrities are also acknowledging the need for sustainability and are opting for brands and clothes that align with this philosophy. Recently, Bhumi Pednekar made heads turn in a dazzling silver shimmery sari that was made out of recycled metal. Yes, you heard that right.

Sharing details about it, Bhumi took to her Instagram and captioned her post, “Sustainable And Fashionable” with a wink emoji.

She further elaborated, “My custom mesh sari from @bloni.atelier is made from recycled metal and can be melted and regenerated further. The future and present of fashion is changing towards greener practices, as that’s the need of the hour.”

Bhumi looked stunning in the sparkling silver sari designed by Akshat Bansal. The actor’s mesh sari was teamed up with a sleek cutout blouse featuring full-length sleeves and a turtleneck detail. The highlight, (both metaphorically and literally) however, was the reflective straps of the bralette under her blouse.

For makeup, Bhumi opted for black winged eyeliner, mauve lipstick, and fuller eyebrows. Her hair was tied in a bun and she had small drop earrings on.

Previously, Samantha Ruth Prabhu wore a canva fluid maxi dress from the label Pankaj and Nidhi. The dress was made with a special fabric made entirely out of recycled plastic bottles. The colour-blocked attire had a pleated lower panel, flowy silhouette and a tie-up belt that accentuated Samantha’s svelte frame.

Harry Potter actor Emma Watson wore a dress made from recycled plastic bottles for the 2016 MET Gala. Emma collaborated with Eco Age and Calvin Klein on making her outfit entirely sustainable for the Green Carpet Challenge.

“Plastic is one of the biggest pollutants – being able to turn this waste into a high quality material is a real success story,” Emma’s stylist Sarah Slutsky Tooley wrote in an Instagram post.

Recently, at day two of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) launch, Priyanka Chopra stunned in an upcycled “65-year-old vintage Banarasi patola (brocade) saree with silver threads and a gold electroplating on khadi silk”.
